Consuming Fire
An amazing thing happened this morning during my joy time. (I used to call it quiet time but I get more joy out of it than quiet!!) The first thing I do when I sit down is light the four candles on the table next to my chair while reciting a prayer I learned on my Walk to Emmaus inviting the Holy Spirit to come and join me there. So this morning, with my cd player attached to my head with soaking music caressing my mind, I hunkered down under my blanket, trying to connect with the Most High when I heard a funny crackling noise. I heard the noise over and through my music and blanket. (When I say "hunkered down" I mean I was under it.) I glanced over and one of the candles was flaming up like 3 inches!! My first reaction was to blow it out, but something or someOne stopped me. I sat and watched as the flame of my candle danced - to the music in my headphones. It was amazing. It was absolutely in sync to the rhythm I was hearing. Dancing flames. How cool is that? But even more...I just looked up the name of the instrumental song I was listening to and, you're gonna love this...it's called "Fragrant Sacrifice". It only gets better - at exactly the same time the song was over the flame burned out. It had burned for 7 minutes. Of course I grabbed my journal and recorded the whole thing the best I could in words. Then I begged God to consume me with the fire of His Spirit. I want to be HIS - totally, completely, wholly His. I want my life to be a Fragrant Sacrifice to Him.
Do you believe that the Most High God loves you so much He is paying attention to you at every moment of all time? Sometimes I forget that and then He gives me fog or dancing flames or OH MY GOODNESS!! mallards in the pool!! As I was typing two mallard ducks just flew in and landed in the pool! I wish I had a picture but Molly chased them off. Dang it! I have a great life. I have a magnificent God. I gotta go do some dancin'!

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 1 Cor. 2:14&15
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww..cool!
i just randomly came across your blog this morning and was really encouraged by your thoughts. the consuming dancing fire - what an incredible and awesome picture! i'm in agreement with you and pray that you will be consumed by the fire of His Spirit.

That is one of the coolest stories I have ever heard!! We serve such an incredibly intimate creative God. Your devotion and utter dependance, joy, and passion in Him continue to serve as an incredible example in my own journey. I love you:)
Yeah - we're all likely to miss those little reminders of His constant presences. I like to think...ANTS ON MY DESK!!! I just found a whole trail of ants on my desk. Gotta go get the bug-killer. (evil wink)
Have a blessed day.
