Freedom Attracts

"When you are interiorly free you call others to freedom, whether you know it or not. Freedom attracts wherever it appears. A free man or a free woman creates a space where others feel safe and want to dwell. Our world is so full of conditions, demands, requirements, and obligations that we often wonder what is expected of us. But when we meet a truly free person, there are no expectations, only an invitation to reach into ourselves and discover there our own freedom.

Where true inner freedom is, there is God. And where God is, there we want to be."

I received this daily meditation from Henri Nouwen. Doesn't it make you want to be "interiorly free"??? I know that is what I was emanating last Thursday in chapel. Freedom. The truth will set us free. Speaking the truth will set others free. Free to speak their truth. Vulnerability is a strength not a weakness. All these years I was wrong. But God is showing me a better way. And I am so excited to travel it. I am filled with anticipation to see what God has planned for all of us. Life in Him is never boring or mundane, not if you're really living in the Spirit, driven by the Spirit, breathing by the Spirit. I've never been so excited to be alive. I think this newfound freedom will indeed attract others - hopefully to my God of Wonders - not to me.

Freedom is my #1 spiritual goal these days! It is a sign of discipleship!

John 8: 31-32, 36   To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

I love this post. For me, freedom comes only when I embrace the total love and acceptance of the Father. When I rest in this I discover that I can live in freedom and not bondage to performance and expectations.

Jesus is Truth. When we know Jesus we will be set free!

Candy, this is a beautiful quote and I am going to "wear" it today.
But I see how telling our story also brings this interior freedom. Telling it and honoring it, and the tears we shed as we tell it are gloriously freeing.
