The Promise

Today 68 of our middle school kids are hopping in vans and going on a crazy tent-camping trip that is highlighted Saturday night by a play depicting the life of Jesus, called "The Promise". I was sitting at the parent/child meeting on Wednesday night and when they announced that there were 68 kids and 14 adult sponsors we were all pretty amazed. But when they told us that they were taking vans I saw several faces change, one in particular, the mother of one of the boys in the accident last January. She came up to me after and told me she knew I had seen into her soul. I said I did and I totally understand. But I don't totally understand. My Max wasn't in that car. And yet, we're still haunted by the accident at our house. I cannot imagine how she is really feeling. How is our Youth Minister feeling today? She's leading a mass of middle schoolers on a journey to The Promise. My prayer for her is that she will remember that Jesus is The Promise. I pray for protection over her and all these kids and adults that are stepping out there to be the first ones back on the road. I pray for great faith and peace, the kind we cannot understand. I pray for joy and I pray that these kids will see Jesus not only in that play but in the hearts and eyes of each other. Will you please join me in praying for this trip? This is going to be a big trip for them. I almost wish I was going with them. Almost. I'm really not cut out for tent-camping.
