Beauty in Beaver Creek

For the last two days I've been here in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
I'm looking out at this from my hotel window:

When we first arrived we took a walk and found this little corner of the world:

And right now this is what it looks like outside:

I was born in Colorado. The mountains are in my blood. I feel so at home here. Falling snow fills me with a sense of wonder and I step back in time and feel like a child again. I like that feeling. I think God likes it when I feel like a child, too. It certainly helps me know Him and appreciate the beauty of His creation in a closer and more intimate way than when I am in my very present adult world. No wonder He wants us to become as little children. We get to play with Him when we're in that place. And surely God loves to play.

Candy, I am so glad you and Geoff got to go there. It looks so beautiful. You guys deserve a beautiful place...you both have been there for my family and I absoulutely adore both of you.
I love to go to the ocean and watch young and old run from the waves. It is a picture of God playing with His children.
I am sure he's like..why do you want to live so immersed in concrete when I have created this for you...?

You can almost hear the quietness in those pictures...why does snow seem to quiet everything?

Oh GOSH you've just made me homesick!!!

I mean, don't feel sorry for a guy living in Hawaii, but I miss home so much.

Eat some snow for me - if it's not yellow.

Bev - we love your family dearly. And yes, the snow does seem to hold its own special form of peace and stillness. I want to crawl right into it.

Scott-holy cow, yeah, hawaii. where are you from? I'm from Colorado Springs, now home is abilene, texas - a far cry from the mountains or hawaii! I promise to eat the snow in your honor!

Candy,

I grew up in (or around) Castle Rock. Went to Douglas County High. My best friend lived in Monument.
