Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Sorry it's been awhile, computer problems, enough said. So, my incredible son, Max, went to Mexico for a Youth Missions trip. He came home with a mohawk. I cannot tell you how much I love this. What I love most is that he was the only one who did it. The youth intern and one other guy showed up with them and shaved them off while they were there, but Max got his during the trip (they brought the clippers with them). He had wanted one a couple of weeks before the trip but his dad nixed the idea. I agreed but secretly I was thinking "yes!". I am a strange mother. The guy has great hair - go nuts with it! I've always tried to get him to grow it long but he won't do it. He's been so respectable with it up until now with highlighting being the highlight and an occasional buzz for good measure. The thing is, it's not just hair. It's more this time. The highlighting came with an attitude that as parents we didn't appreciate at all. We were worried that the mohawk would accompany an attitude, too. It hasn't. Not at all. I'm so proud of the guy I could kiss him. This haircut seems to have more to do with strength of character than anything else. I love that about him. He is strong. He has strong character. And it's really fun to walk down the mall or go to the grocery store with him now. He's been asking me to shave it off. I'm not quite ready. I'm still having fun with it. And with him. Thanks, Max, for making this a summer to remember!

Thanks so much for the comments and encouragement on my blog, I really appreciate it. It is a blessing to hear likeminded people share their faith as well.

Also, I love this post as a guy who often sports a mohawk. In fact there is a pic of my mohawk on my about me page.

Anyway be blessed in Jesus!

First of all, I love that about your son too. Secondly, you are such a cool mom! And third, I love that Max has the exact opposite hairstyle of Geoff!

He looks sooo handsome..it fits him!! He's a good kid, that probably makes it a bit easier than most parents who go through this,

Candy,

You are a GREAT mom, Candy, to see right through the physical (however cool it may be :) and focus on what it signifies. I love that you celebrated this bold statement with him--

I learn so much from you!

Your husband and son look so much alike!
