This will be my last post of 2007. It is still amazing me that this year is over. Max turned 16 on the 22nd of December and today he finally got his license. He's on the road folks! He's really a very good driver so I'm okay with it, just a little anxious. The whole driver's license ordeal has been an exercise in patience mostly for him but also for us. First we were at Disney World until the 27th. So, on the 28th that was the first thing he wanted to do. When he and Geoff finally got to the DPS office they found they had forgotten one form and had to come home to get it. Then when they went back the computer was down for maintenance in Austin and that was it - they called it a day. This morning we were there bright and early only to find that once again we were shy one form we needed, so they gave Max a "fast pass" (Disney talk for go to the head of the line) so that upon his return with the proper paperwork he could be processed and get driving. By 9:24am he was out the door and on the road - legal. He has since made two trips to the recycling center, two trips to the grocery store, gotten lunch at Subway, been to the mall, and is now out renting a movie. I, on the other hand, have been sitting by the phone waiting for the call that he has gotten where he was going or that he's once again on the road. What a difference one day can make in your life. I can't remember when I've ever used the Serenity Prayer so much. While he was inside the DPS office this morning I anointed his truck and prayed over it like I have never prayed over anything before. I know the oil isn't magic or indeed of any consequence whatsoever but it helps me focus my mind and heart on those I love and on the One I love the most.
Tonight we are hosting the teen crowd. We've heated the pool, we're firing up the fire pit and food is being prepared. I think there will be about 20 of them. Maybe more. Maybe less. It will be fun and I intend to live in each moment of it that they'll allow me to participate in. In those they don't I'll have my own friends to interact with. All in all it is 2007 is going out with a bang. Maybe I should rephrase that. 2007 is going fast and 2008 is upon us. May this year bring you unspeakable joy, everlasting love, insurmountable peace and deeper into the heart of God.

Here is one friend that would like to see more of you this next year. Anytime that Max doesn't need you around....call this friend, okay?
Happy New Year to you. If you think time flies by wait until you are my age. My baby has a Dec birthday too -the 29th. He turned 40. I still remember holding him when he was 6 lbs and something. (I don't remember the oz)
Happy New Year,
I loooove that you prayed over his truck. I will MAKE SURE to do things like that for my girl. I'm sure he'll be fine, but I know that sometimes words don't comfort the heart as much as watching him pull up in the driveway as he heads in each time :)
"...deeper into the heart of God."
Yes yes yes
Bountiful love!
