20 Years Ago Today

December 22, 1991...Elliott Max Gilbert was born at 3:20 pm.  Right about now (7:00 am) I was in the hospital waiting on my epidural and more importantly his arrival!  I didn't get the epidural until 12:30 and 3 hours later - there he was in all his amazingness.  That's a day I'll never forget.  Ever.  My dearest friends Squeaky and Cindy were there with Geoff and I.  We had talked about and planned for this child to be born for months.  We had no idea if it was a girl or a boy but we were prepared with names for either gender.  Zoe for a girl.  Max for a boy.  For months we had called him Zoe/Max.  When he was born Squeaky yelled out - It's a Max!  What a great moment!  What a great day!  What a great human being!

There are lots of great stories about the day Max was born and just after.  He is a great story.  His life is such a blessing.  His joy is contagious.  His passion is unbounded.  He loves deeply.  He stores the wisdom of the ages in his heart.  His destiny is for good.  I've never known any guy who feels as deeply as Max feels.  Hurts really hurt.  Even those hurts that are not his but belong to others hurt him deeply.  When he figures out what to do with all those feelings and passion the world better watch out because it will change.  There is no way a passion like this can be set free and not change something.

(I meant to post this early this morning but I got distracted and then the internet connection was lost.  It's now 10:24 pm and it's been a wonderful day of celebrating Max.  I love him.)
