Butterfly Girl
Yesterday I saw this incredible butterfly flying around my flowers. I took some amazing pictures of it. Butterflies have a deeper meaning for me after working the Chrysalis last weekend. This beautiful creature used to be a creepy crawling low life that I considered a pest. It ate holes in the leaves and generally caused destruction in the garden. At least that's my vision of a caterpillar. And that reminds me a lot of who I used to be at my worst, say from age 16 through pretty much 44. I wasn't a complete low life that whole time but my heart was certainly creepy and crawling with lies. Then God came along and did some miraculous healing in me. Now I relate to this butterfly in a whole new way. I see a new creation, free to fly, to light on a flower and not cause destruction but to become a beautiful picture.
Light - a key word in that last phrase. Let that sink into your very being and become brighter. light - something that makes vision possible; light - spiritual illumination, INNER LIGHT, ENLIGHTENMENT, TRUTH; light - to fall unexpectedly, to arrive by chance; light - having little weight, not heavy; light - easily endurable
In order to fly free I must experience light in all these forms. I see so much of that in the transition from caterpillar to butterfly. As butterflies they have transformed into the being they were meant to be - Truth. They fall unexpectedly and arrive by chance on a flower that nourishes them. They carry little weight to encumber their flight. Their mission is easily endured - I mean really how would you like to flutter all day around the flowers. Talk about taking time to smell the roses.
I know the life of a butterfly is not all fluttering and soaking up nectar, there are also dangers but the light makes vision possible and they are free to fly and soar. And so am I.
I've never noticed before how God put His heart into a butterfly. But He did.
