So, there it is. My word for 2008 - Wisdom. I'm anxious to find out where God is leading me with this word. I am coming to Him "in weakness and fear and with much trembling." I assumed I would be spending the year in Proverbs and I'm sure there will be plenty of that involved, but this morning in my quiet time I was led elsewhere - to James and 1 Corinthians and Colossians among other places. I was brought to a new discovery of the wisdom I am searching for - spiritual wisdom - as opposed to worldy wisdom. I crave the wisdom that comes from deep faith and the Spirit. What I want is the the wisdom spoken of in 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 -
"6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began..
And I'm claiming the promise found in James 1:5 -
"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."
Even now I'm trembling as I write in anticipation of what is to come. What an adventure - a grand adventure!

I long for this too! Thanks for sharing!
I think I'm looking at a 2008 word of patience... yikes...
Ah yes adventure always starts when we start to pray for for his will to be done. Especially when we give him a word.
I am glad I am going to be able to bear witness to your journey!
I am holding out on my word...but he keeps poking at me, so I know it is about time to surrender!
Candy, what a word!! As I struggle DAILY with things big and small..I find myself "trying to figure it all out". and then I come across your post and realize that I NEED to pray for WISDOM too!!
Thanks for always being led to the right word!
Aloha!
That's a huge word.
I think wisdom was given to me in spurts last year. I just tried to write some of the things I've learned, and they can't be communicated in a comment post. I've got to to think of some way to whittle it down to post it on my blog some day.
The gist of it was - I've been given one unique life. If I try to get more than I'm supposed to have, if I try to keep more than I'm destined to lose, if I try to make my children keep smiling when they're supposed to cry, if I try to create recognition for myself when I'm most useful being anonymous...then I am trying to live someone else's life.
The only way for me to ever really live MY life is to ask for God's will each day, as others have said.
Good luck with WISDOM (wow, such a word!), and I think mine may be TRUST...as I wait to see if God is going to take my neck pain away. Happy New Year, Candy!
Candy,
Its funny that you say Wisdom is your word, because I really think you are one of the wisest people that I know. I can't wait to see even more wisdom coming from you. What a blessing you have been to me and Alyson.
Hi Candy! Interesting how God gives us (if we will but ask) a word/words to help guide us in the path He has set before us...my two words for 2008 are Abundance and Simplicity.
By the way, you won the AltAred Art Goodie Box on my blog...please email me your snail mail addy so I can get it to you! YAY!

Just keep making progress
You went to Bermuda??? I want pictures and details.
I love your excitement about what God has in store for you. Wisdom is one of the things we can ask for with a promise that God will deliver (James 1:5-6). Just "ask in faith." Add my name to the list of those who are excited to see what God will show you and do for you this year.
Thanks again for your encouragement at my little island.
I, too, look forward to see what God will reveal to you through His wisdom as you listen to and for him!
Here is my word-it came in loud and clear: thankful. I am excited to see how it is carried out!!
Love you, friend!! :)
I was looking forward to knowing your word this year, Candy.
And, Happy Belated Birthday to Max!!! What a milestone for you both!
Too, so glad to know that you went to Disney World. How fun! We went in March of 2007, and it was such a great time, so I can picture you all there having so much fun.
I hope you are having a great new year so far...
I just came to your blog through Noah's and this was really profound for me today.
GOD does lead us even with words. PRAISE JESUS for that. May HE continue to lead and guide you on your adventure. It truly is a grand one.
