"Yes, LORD, walking in the ways of your laws, we wait on you; your name and renown are the desires of our hearts." Isaiah 26:8
This is one of the memory verses in "a call to die". I had to draw it out with little stick figures to get it in my head, but it worked. Today it's also the verse to pray for my prayer partner in the Wall of Prayer which is a really cool thing some women have started here in Abilene. They have organized prayer warriors so that every high school student in the city is covered by prayer every day. Every 3 months they send out a flyer with a scripture to pray over your student every day. Amazing. I cannot tell you the peace that gives me knowing I am not the only one praying for Max every single day.
In light of today, the day after Good (Magnificent) Friday and the day before Easter, I thought this verse was absolutely perfect. Think about it. First we're saying Yes to Him. That cannot be a bad thing. For me, "walking in the ways of your laws" means walking in the law of His love, walking in His peace, walking in His joy. "we wait on you"...isn't that what today is all about? And most importantly, it's a way to remember it is all about Him. "your name and renown are the desire of our hearts". When we desire HIS name and renown over our own, our hearts are humbled.
So, on this in-between day, remember Sunday's coming.
We're in no hurry, God. We're content to linger
in the path sign-posted with your decisions.
Who you are and what you've done
are all we'll ever want. Isaiah 26:8 (The Message)
